Employment Conditions
* Willing to work throughout the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) and preferably possess reliable transportation.
* Ability to work in various critical care settings, including Intensive Care Units (ICU), Coronary Care Units (CCU), Emergency Departments, High Acuity Units, Trauma Centres, Step-Down Units, and tertiary care hospitals.
* Location: Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), Ontario, Canada.
* Full-time or part-time – Variable shifts (days, evenings, nights, weekends, statutory holidays, and on-call assignments based on operational requirements).
* Compensation: Up to $70.00 per assignment, plus additional benefits (premiums, travel reimbursement, accommodations for selected assignments, continuing education opportunities, and more).

Position Summary
Asicc-Med is seeking experienced Critical Care Registered Nurses (Critical Care RNs) to provide specialized nursing care for critically ill and medically complex patients requiring advanced monitoring, life-support therapies, and rapid clinical interventions.
Working as part of an interdisciplinary critical care team, the Critical Care RN is responsible for comprehensive patient assessments, advanced nursing interventions, continuous hemodynamic monitoring, emergency response, patient stabilization, and collaboration with physicians and specialized healthcare professionals to deliver evidence-based critical care.
Key Responsibilities
* Perform comprehensive nursing assessments for critically ill and unstable patients.
* Continuously monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms, hemodynamic parameters, neurological status, and respiratory function.
* Administer intravenous medications, vasoactive infusions, blood products, sedation, analgesia, and other advanced therapies.
* Operate and monitor advanced life-support equipment, including cardiac monitors, infusion pumps, mechanical ventilators, and invasive monitoring devices.
* Recognize and respond rapidly to changes in patient condition, initiating emergency interventions when required.
* Assist physicians during emergency procedures, resuscitations, intubations, central line insertions, chest tube placements, and other critical care procedures.
* Provide care for patients receiving mechanical ventilation, invasive monitoring, renal replacement therapy, and other specialized treatments.
* Collaborate closely with intensivists, anesthesiologists, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, nurse practitioners, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
* Educate and support patients and their families regarding treatment plans, prognosis, and recovery.
* Maintain accurate and timely electronic clinical documentation.
* Participate in rapid response teams, code blue responses, and emergency preparedness activities.
* Ensure compliance with Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC), Occupational Health and Safety legislation, and organizational policies.
* Participate in quality improvement initiatives, evidence-based practice, continuing education, and professional development.
* Perform other duties and responsibilities related to the position, as assigned by the employer or healthcare facility, provided such duties are within the employee's scope of practice, qualifications, applicable legislation, professional standards, and organizational policies.
Qualifications
Education
* Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) or equivalent nursing degree recognized in Ontario.
* Graduation from an approved nursing education program recognized by the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).
Licensure
* Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) as a Registered Nurse (RN).
* Valid Ontario Registered Nurse license.
Experience
* Minimum two (2) years of recent Critical Care, Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Coronary Care Unit (CCU), Emergency Department, Trauma, or High Acuity nursing experience is preferred.
* Experience caring for mechanically ventilated, critically ill, and hemodynamically unstable patients.
* Experience with electronic health records and critical care documentation systems.
Certifications
* Current Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification.
* Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification (required).
* Critical Care Nursing Certificate (preferred).
* Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification (asset, depending on assignment).
* Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC), Emergency Nursing Certificate (ENC(C)), or Critical Care specialty certifications are considered strong assets.
* Current Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) training is an asset.

* Proficiency in electronic medical record (EMR/EHR) systems.
* Proficiency in spoken and written English; additional languages, including French, are considered an asset.
Administrative Requirements
* Successful Vulnerable Sector Check (Criminal Record Check).
* Immunization records meeting the requirements of partner healthcare facilities, including proof of vaccinations where required.
* Legal authorization to work in Canada.
